If You Buy A Game, You Should Own It.

Did you know you don't own your games? Right now, most storefronts don't sell games, they sell ACCESS to games through "digital licenses". You’re essentially renting a game for the full price of purchase.

With digital licenses, game companies can revoke access to your games at any point, for any reason, with NO obligation to refund money spent on that media.

Sony recently announced that they intend to stop the production of physical media. Since there are no consumer protections designed for this all-digital future, this means more money for games we don’t even get to own and no ability to preserve or share our games. This process is already destroying video game stores that sell used games, giving Sony and the platforms full control over pricing with no competition.

Many people still think of gaming as a niche topic or just a hobby. It’s our community where we play with our friends around the globe. The truth is that nearly 70% of people in the US play video games weekly, contributing to a global industry that’s bigger than the film and music industries combined. This means that we, as gamers, have real POWER!

We are fighting to win:

  1. New Digital Ownership laws on the Federal, State, and International levels - giving gamers the rights to own and preserve their games even after they lose publisher support

  2. Opening up Console Digital Stores - Allow competing stores on closed consoles to improve player choice and prevent anti-competitive practices

  3. Allow independent retailers to sell competitively priced digital keys

Pledge to join the fight for Digital Ownership so we can show what gamers can do when we organize.
